Scar sizes are direct indicators of wear on moving components. Specifically, this will affect rod bearings, camshafts, rockers, gears, and any other components that move against each other. The smaller the scar, the less the wear.
This page deals with RedLine (Red Line) brand oils

You can see a direct comparison of scar sizing without and with SQUID INK below:

RedLine offers fantastic lubricants, but at higher prices. You can expect to spend 3-10x as much on RedLine products than on other brands. However, you get what you pay for with some fantastic out-of-the-box lubrication.

The difference is staggering. The results of this test directly show how much protection is added to moving components that make contact with another component. These are components such as rod bearings, ringlands, camshafts, rockers, valves, crankshafts, and piston skirts.

Reducing engine wear will keep your engine running in ideal condition longer and will free up engine power to be translated to the wheels.

RedLine RACE 15W50 weighs 0.8544 grams per milliliter, making it nearly 7% heavier than most other 50 weight oils.

RedLine RACE 15W50 produced very little scaring as standard, yet still every SQUID INK blend was able to provide noticeable improvements in scaring. The most notable results were taken from the currently available blends (such as M1, M2, M11, and M15) which were then were used to create a new specialized blend designed specifically for this base oil -- M19. The main goal of the new blend (M19) was temperature and required power reduction, as scaring was already minimal. Not only were temperatures significantly reduced (285.4' F N/A down to 230.4' F with M19, a reduction of nearly 20%), but scar size was also reduced by over 25%, and the required power differential reduced by over 5%.

It is worth noting that this oil has a fair amount of ZnDDP added and SHOULD NEVER BE USED in a vehicle with a catalytic converter! This is a RACE ONLY oil!
