Scar sizes are direct indicators of wear on moving components. Specifically, this will affect rod bearings, camshafts, rockers, gears, and any other components that move against each other. The smaller the scar, the less the wear.

The difference is staggering. What we can deduce from this is how much protection is added to any moving components that make contact with another component.
